INT. LISA'S HOUSE - DAY

HILDA

Do you know Tommy Willoughby?

LISA

Brenda's husband?

HILDA

Naw, that's the youngest brother.

LISA

The one that taught at Mt Zion?

HILDA

Yep. Him. He sure did. He taught at Mt Zion, and his wife had just died of cancer. Oh yeah. It was awful.

LISA

What cancer?

HILDA

I dunno. Well, his truck broke down and he had it in the shop. He finally picked it up and took it home. He parked it in the garage and took and shower and it EXPLODED! Can you believe that?

LISA

They lord!

HILDA

He was in the shower and he heard it blow up! He as able to get out, but it burnt down the house.

LISA

My lord Hilda.

HILDA

Oh yeah and then on the way home from church I seen a woman on the side of the road. She had a shovel and a bag. There was a little fur ball looking thing was in the middle of the road.

LISA

I wouldn't have stopped.

HILDA

Well, but, the lord put it on my heart. She was out there trying to pick up her puppy that got run over. I stopped and asked her if they had a blanket for the dog, she said no, but they had a towel for the dog. You know, it was the dog's towel. I said, well, go get that towel. And I said lord please I don't have the strength to get this old puppy out of the road. And then I seen brother Tommy coming up the road behind me and I said lord, Please put it on his heart to pick up this dog out of the road. Well, Tommy got up to where I was about the time she got back from the house with the towel. I waited on Tommy to offer to pick up that dog, since I just asked the lord to put it on his heart. Well, Tommy didn't didn't offer and I got that dog all by myself. I rolled it up in that towel and I cried and I then I handed it to the woman on the side of the road. She took that poor old thing off to bury it and I looked at Tommy and I said, I asked the Lord to put it on your heart to pick that dog up so I wouldn't have to. And brother Tommy looked right at me and said, Sister Hilda, I wouldn't have been that gentle. I would have scooped that thing up with that shovel threw it in a bag.

(looking back at Lisa)

Well, I'm glad the lord didn't put it on his heart to help me.
